ENGRAVING

ENGRAVING - THERE ARE TWO TYPES

STATIC ENGRAVING BY  HERMES or GRAV-O-GRAPH Machine

For those requiring logo rebuilding, just your wife's mothers name, the name you were given, your social sec number, or your dogs name, so you don't forget your password, in other words simple proprietorship numerals, logos and letters, we have that capability.

Many times tired or worn firearms we receive have had the logos burnished or so badly worn we have to recut them. Also some of the models for cost control purposes (real meaning is CHEAP) they merely laser etched not engraved a logo on the firearm and it too has worn. Sometimes to cut, using heavier grit severely rusted or badly damaged areas logos might be weakened.

COMMON DIES - COLT
We have the dies to recut the following:  SMITH and WESSON, Ruger, and COLT. Now understand these logos we cut are outlines, and the graphics below are higher quality than the actual logo cut since in most cases the logo is less than 3/4 of an inch. These graphics are to let you know we can restore in most cases originality of the design.  It is not a guaranteed process as there are many factors involved.

The rampart horse design of the Colt shown exhibited in many forms since the first were delivered with the "Rampant Colt" in 1913. Today Colt uses the cap "C" logo spelling Colt in upper and lower case. There were many variants of the horse.

HAND ENGRAVING

Then there is the art-form. Two of the firearms we show you under Pistols and Revolvers recently were engraved and here are pictures of the final results.  Traditional engraving, by burin or with the use of hand cutting machines, like the Lindsey Air engraver under microscopes is a lost art form. It continues to be practised by gunsmiths and others, while modern industrial techniques such as photo and laser engraving have many important applications in OEM manufacturing and just like our hand cut checkering has a different look than machine made.
